Summer Trends to Try: Week 3

I will be posting two summer trends for you to try in preparation for the official first day of summer (June 21st!)

High-waisted shorts.  High waistlines have made a comeback in the past year or so, since their rise to fame in the 1980’s (think Kelly Kapowski from Saved By The Bell.)  The only difference this time around: your high-waisted denim doesn’t haveto be acid washed.  High-waisted shorts come in so many styles, colors, fabrics, and patterns that it’s almost impossible to find a pair that you don’t want to try on.  Rock an old-school tee with a tattered pair or go punk with studs and statement jewelry.  For a night out, dare to be different in leather or tweed styles.  Feeling cute?  Pick a pair that ties in a bow around the waist.

Crop tops.  Crop tops are summer’s T-shirts, meaning they can be paired with any style, whether it is sporty, laid back, preppy, or high fashion.  Bare your belly at the beach, the gym, or even out to dinner.  Crop tops can be made of soft and casual cotton, sweet lace, breathable mesh, and even vampy leather.  It all depends on what style you choose and how you mix your crop top in with the rest of your outfit.  Just beware not to show too much skin while you’re out on the town.  A maxi skirt or flawy dress pants can tone down the stomach-showing trend.
